CULPEPER, Va.--More than 5-million people at more than 2,000 locations came out to oppose the Trump administration’s threat to Democracy on June 14, 2025. Here, we had more than 600 peaceful protesters. In Gainesville, Fla., an estimated 4,000 people attended the rallies. Peaceful demonstrations were held throughout the world.
To think so many people gathered on sidewalks and street corners, carrying handmade signs with messages like WE ARE NOT OK or NO KINGS FOR 250 YEARS or We the PEOPLE or DON'T TREAD ON ME.
In the days leading up to June 14, some governors sent intimidating letters, warning of the need to “ensure public safety,” as a justification for calling in the National Guard. We were not intimidated. But in response to this concern for public safety, our meetings and poster sessions now included information on our rights when faced with instigators.
There will be many more peaceful protests, and our numbers will increase. The positive takeaways are that despite some differences, we believe in our Democracy and the American flag as a symbol of our values. We have hope and resolve.
Where were you on June 14? How many people attended your rally?
